Background
As Chief of Staff and Director at Earth Finance, Jonathan Castrodale leverages 15+ years solving complex systems challenges in engineering and technology, and 15+ years in a mission-driven organization developing and scaling sustainable solutions to address global issues. Jonathan brings broad strategy, operational, and leadership expertise to Earth Finance, with additional focus on renewable fuels and decarbonizing aviation.
Prior to Earth Finance, Jonathan was in multiple roles at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He advanced internal data and analytics capabilities; led strategy, planning, and management for communications, advocacy, and nutrition, including work on public/private partnerships to address undernutrition; and served as Chief of Staff to the CFO. Before that, Jonathan was a Senior Consultant at Point B and an independent consultant working with global aerospace manufacturers and suppliers on three continents. Jonathan began his career at Boeing where he designed first-of-a-kind components for the 777 and developed new engineering automation technologies.
Jonathan is a competitive cyclist and a five-time medalist in Washinton state across multiple cycling disciplines. He proudly rides his bike everywhere he goes. He has served on advisory boards for cycling transportation in the Seattle area and as an officer of a global non-profit.
Jonathan was a fellow in the founding cohort of the Climate Drift Career Accelerator, and holds BS and ME degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University.
